Piritori—formally known as Vaasanpuistikko Square—is a beloved plaza next to Sörnäinen metro station in Helsinki, fostering a lively and diverse community. It is a free and accessible public space where people gather to meet friends, relatives, strangers, and peers. During the summer many spend their entire day there—arriving in the morning and leaving by night—chatting, sharing skills, exchanging resources, telling stories, supporting one another, and caring for other people and the community. Others come to Piritori as passersby—to commute, pass time, or visit the shops and services found on the plaza.
Piritori Looks is a platform for self expression and celebration of identity through fashion, portraying people in the square in their own agency, and documenting their unique presence and diverse styles.
